CAMP PATRIOT, A LOCAL BOY SCOUT, AND DAVE SMITH MOTORS TEAM UP TO
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF DISABLED VETERANS.

(April 5, 2011; Kellogg Idaho) How do you give back to our US Soldiers who have so bravely fought for our country? Not a simple question to answer- but Camp Patriot is on the right track. In 2004, Micah Clark returned from his service in Afghanistan
fortunate enough to be stepping off the plane in good health. In 2006 he founded Camp Patriot on a mission to serve those who were less fortunate; the goal: “To create hope and show his fellow Heroes and disabled Veterans that life is not over, it just
might be a little different.”

There are 2.3 million disabled Veterans living in the United States. Camp Patriot is a wellness program centered around the great outdoors that helps them rehabilitate emotionally and physically by showing them it’s about their ability—NOT their
disability. They are pushed beyond what they think their limit is and encouraged to achieve amazing things like: climbing Mount Rainier—a challenge that over half of the able-bodied people fail at attempting (this year will be their 5th Annual climb!); big
game hunting; hiking; horseback riding; 500 mile motorcycle rides; and countless other activities that have successfully made a tremendous difference in the lives of our heroic disabled Veterans.

The ultimate goal of this non-profit organization is to eventually build a 30,000 square foot lodge where 1,000 disabled Veterans per year can be encouraged to take what they have and live to the fullest, and learn what their new “normal” is as they build strong relationships and better self esteem. Unlike other programs, this is the only one of its kind that serves
disabled Veterans from all service terms including Vietnam and 90% of generated revenue goes back to the program. Camp Patriot also has a trusted working relationship with the Stars and Stripes Program which takes a van, loaded with gear and ammo to different celebrity shoots to raise funds for disabled Veterans.

Recently, a number of people teamed up for a mighty impressive donation: Casey Brush, a young Boy Scout from Troop 169 needed to complete a community service project to get his Eagle Scout badge. He and his father, Steve Brush, were impressed
with Camp Patriot and Stars and Stripes Programs and decided this would be a target for their good works. They found a 1989 Chevy van at an auction for $85 and worked night and day to get it cleaned up and running. When it came time to sand and
paint, the whole Troop pitched in. Steve called his old college friend Ken Smith who owns Dave Smith Motors to show him their progress. Ken was so moved by what they had done he wanted to pitch in and generously donated an auto wrap, minor body
work, and shiny new wheels and tires.

This is not just a local program- its national, and the disabled Veterans in every American community can benefit from this
program. Micah Clark refers to scripture that says we were put on this Earth to serve others. Micah lives by this and by their
generous donations, Casey and Steve Brush, and Ken Smith do too.
