2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Chevrolet Silverado

There are a lot of full-size pickup trucks on the market today and narrowing it down to the one model that best suits your needs can, at times, be very difficult. That is exactly why we created this comparison review! We have narrowed all the full-size pickup options down to two, the 2020 Ram 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado, and we are stacking them up against each other to see how they compare from engine options to features and everything in between. Keep reading to find out which model we recommend!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

The Ram 1500 offers three engine options. The base engine is a 3.6L V6 that produces 305 horsepower. Ram enhances this engine's power with eTorque mild-hybrid technology for additional torque when the situation calls for it. The second engine option, offered with or without the eTorque system, is a 5.7-liter V8 that deploys 395 horsepower. The last engine offered is a 3.0L EcoDiesel that produces 260 horsepower. Ram pairs all engines with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain configuration but four-wheel drive is offered for every trim level.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

There are too many engine options offered for the Silverado, and some of them are only tied to certain trim levels. The base engine is a 4.3L V6 that produces 285 horsepower and comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Other engine options include a 3.0L diesel that generates 277 horsepower, a 420 horsepower 6.2-liter V8, and a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 310 horsepower, and three versions of a 5.3-liter V8.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

Drivers can choose from six Ram 1500 trim levels. The base Tradesman comes with second-row in-floor storage, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, 18-inch steel wheels, trailer sway damping, a 5-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system, and a rearview camera. The upper trim levels add smartphone integration, aluminum wheels, larger wheels, an 8.4- or 12-inch touchscreen, a spray-in bedliner, premium leather bucket seats, chrome trim, a four-corner air suspension, and a host of driver assistance features. The off-roading Rebel comes with a power-sliding rear window, full dampened tailgate, LED headlights, and 33-inch Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

There are also a serious number of Silverado trim levels to choose from. The base Work Truck model comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, steel wheels, a 6-speaker sound system, smartphone integration, and Bluetooth. The upper trim levels add front tow hooks, cruise control, navigation, leather upholstery, heated/ventilated front seats, Bose sound system, and more.

Conclusion:

We have taken a good look at both of these full-size pickup truck models and we have to give our vote to the 2020 Ram 1500! The Silverado puts up a good fight but the overwhelming amount of engine and trim levels make it hard to find the one that best suits your needs.
