2021 Ram ProMaster City vs 2021 Ford Transit

If you are a business owner in a service industry, you probably have or are considering purchasing a commercial van. There are a few different ones on the market, but the top two are the 2021 Ram ProMaster and the 2021 Ford Transit. Let's see how these two stacks up against each other.

2021 Ram ProMaster Power & Handling

The 2021 Ram ProMaster is equipped to handle nearly everything from transport to towing. Ram gave the ProMaster the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that delivers 250 pound-feet of torque and best-in-class standard 280 V6 horsepower. The 62TE six-speed automatic transmission is a proven workhorse. Together with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, this exceptional six-speed transmission offers smooth driving, small changes between gears, and impressive capability that is ready to work. This powertrain will allow you to keep your business moving with an impressive best-in-class 4,680-pound maximum payload and a towing capacity of up to 6,910 pounds. The ProMaster's class-exclusive front-wheel-drive system provides a handy 36-foot turning diameter and remarkable traction in all conditions.

2021 Ford Transit Power & Handling

The Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van offers buyers two engine options: the standard 2.0L GDI I-4 engine and the available 2.5L iVCT I-4 engine. The 2.5-liter engine will deliver 169 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Transit offers a maximum payload of 1,550 pounds and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. Which is nowhere near what the ProMaster can haul and carry. The Transit does come standard with a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package. The Transit does come in two wheelbases; the short-wheelbase model has 38.3 feet of curb-to-curb turning diameter, while the long-wheelbase model has a turning diameter of 40.0 feet.

2021 Ram ProMaster Safety Features

The ProMaster is not only powerful. It is safe! You will navigate confidently on and off the site with new available safety and security features. Crosswind Assist detects strong gusts of wind, helping you stay on course, while available Blind Spot Monitoring warns you when vehicles are approaching from out of sight. The ProMaster's available Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking system will apply partial braking to help mitigate potential collisions while helping give drivers more time to react. The class-exclusive available Digital Rearview Mirror features an LCD monitor that, when switched on, offers a real-time video stream. Plus, with a tidal of six airbags throughout the ProMaster, you will have peace of mind for all vehicle occupants.

2021 Ford Transit Safety Features

The 2021 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van was designed to get you through the long workday in confidence with standard safety features, like the Rear View Camera, Safety Canopy side-curtain airbags, Curve Control, and AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control. The Transit's side-curtain airbags deploy downward and outward toward the side-window openings to protect the heads of front passengers, and the Roll-fold technology helps the airbag slide between the glass and occupant as the airbag inflates. The 2021 Ford Transit offers driver Curve Control. This system allows drivers to maintain control when entering a curve too fast by reducing engine torque and applying four-wheel braking to reduce speed.

It is clear to see that the Ram ProMaster offers far more power and is much safer than the Ford Transit.
