Introducing the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX

The flagship engine at FCA is the famous Hemi V8 and one of those resides in the TRX. In particular, the TRX has a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi, more popularly known as the Hellcat engine nestled in its engine bay. With  702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the TRX rockets from zero-to-60-mph in just 4.5 seconds.

The TRX is not designed to be the company's most powerful towing machine but it is currently rated at a healthy 8100 pounds, which is 100 more than the competing F-150 Raptor. It is also capable of carrying up to 1310 pounds of payload, which is 120 more than the Raptor.

While the power of the TRX is impressive, the vehicle is designed to excel off-road also. Along with a reinforced steel frame, the TRX comes equipped with massive 35-inch all-terrain tires giving it a whopping 11.8 inches of ground clearance. The TRX also comes with extensive underbody plating, an electronic-locking rear differential, Bilstein remote-reservoir dampers, and gigantic 15.0-inch front brakes.

Ram has gone for a plush look in the TRX with rich-looking upholstery and thick sound-deadening materials. The optional TR1 and TR2 packages add leather-covered surfaces and a mix of microsuede and carbon-fiber accents. The TRX's flat-bottom steering wheel features a pair of prominent paddle shifters, but there's also a floor shifter located on the center console.

Vertically mounted in the middle of the dashboard on every TRX is a huge 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The unit boasts Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a built-in navigation system. The truck can also be outfitted with a mighty 900-watt, 19-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system.

Although the 2021 TRX hasn't been crash tested by the NHTSA yet, Ram does stock its mightiest pickup with a wide variety of available driver-assistance technology, including an automated function that helps make hooking up a trailer easier. Key safety features available include Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, Blind-spot monitoring and Adaptive cruise control.
